The Mesa
County Fair was first in 1887. Each year the Mesa County Fair
is organized by the Mesa County Fair Board with tremendous help from our area's
agriculture community, Mesa County Government, the City of Grand Junction, 4-H,
Future Farmers of America, our many sponsors, and local businesses. The fair host
many attractions and shows one of the most waited are the Demo Derby, Mud Bog
, Tuff Truck Challenge and the PRCA Rodeo. The rodeo is always the kick-off event
of the Mesa County Fair. The competition features cowboys competing in bareback
riding, saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping, steer wrestling, team roping, steer
roping, and of course, the infamous bull riding.
Another event that adds to the fair is the motorcycle freestyle
show which features high-flying jumps and tricks. The Mesa County Fair competitions
and shows are as follows: 4H Horse Show, Flying Rocket Contest, Shotgun, Advanced
Shotgun, Carcass Swine, 4H Fashion Revue, Dog Show, Llama Show, Cat and Small
Animal Show, Sheep Show, Pet Rock Contest, Parade of Champions Entertainment
tent, Swine Showmanship, 4H Performing Arts Festival, Rabbit Show, Beef Show,
Poultry Show, Bucket Calf Show, and the CatchAHeifer Contest.
